Regulate...G Funk Era is an album by American rapper Warren G. It was released during 1994 on the Def Jam label and reached triple platinum status. The album's biggest hit was the eponymous single "Regulate", a gritty depiction of West Coast gang life which samples singer Michael McDonald's hit "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)" and featured fellow 213 member Nate Dogg. The album received positive reviews from critics with Robert Christgau in particular commenting positively regarding the coolly menacing nature of the music. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 after selling 176,000 in its release week.

Waterbed Hev is the first solo album and sixth album overall by rapper Heavy D. The album was released on April 22, 1997 for Uptown Records and was produced by Heavy D, DJ Battle Cat and Tony Dofat. This marked Heavy D's first album without "The Boyz", DJ Eddie F and G-Wiz. Waterbed Hev was a surprising success, making it to #9 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Three single were released, "Waterbed Hev", "I'll Do Anything", and "Big Daddy" (US #18), though only the latter made it to the Billboard charts. Guests in the album include The Lost Boyz, Soul for Real and Tha Dogg Pound.

Peaceful Journey is the third album by rap group, Heavy D & the Boyz. The album was released on July 2, 1991, for MCA Records and was produced by Pete Rock, DJ Eddie F, Teddy Riley, Marley Marl and DJ Clash. This marked the group's first album since the death of member, Trouble T Roy, who died almost a year before the album's release, and several on the album pay tribute to him. Though not as successful as the group's previous album, Big Tyme, the album was able to reach Platinum status and made it to number 21 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The following singles also charted: "Now That We Found Love" (UK #2, US #11), "Is It Good to You", "Don't Curse" and "Peaceful Journey", which sampled the bass line from This Place Hotel by The Jacksons. Guests on the album include Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, Kool G. Rap, Q-Tip, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Daddy Freddy and K-Ci & JoJo.
